Wilderness On Wheels - Testimonials

One of the most meaningful indicators of impact is the emotional response we see from our visitors. Many of our guests inform us that they never believed they would be able to access a mountain trail, fish independently again, or enjoy nature without barriers. Wilderness On Wheels provides not only accessible outdoor recreation, but dignity, connection, and belonging in the outdoors.

Testimonials from our guests

  • We are very excited about our upcoming stay at Wilderness On Wheels. My husband is an above-knee amputee who uses both crutches and a powered wheelchair. Since his amputation in 2019 we haven't found anyplace other than large resorts that have guaranteed accessibility. We missed being out in nature and experiencing a little solitude. WOW is giving that back to us.

  • What an amazing place. Beautiful and well maintained. Being able to hike like this with my family is a true gift. The facilities are top-notch and designed with the needs of people in mind. This has clearly been a passion project for so many people. Thank you!

  • The entire experience at WOW was exceptional. The staff were friendly and it was so easy to get in, park, and get going on the trails! My sister, in a powered wheelchair, was able to travel everywhere and there were many spots to stop and rest along the hike. The views were beautiful and we were delighted to find a functioning and CLEAN bathroom and cabin near the top of the trail! 10/10 will return again

  • "Bruce and I have been enjoying WOW since its opening. We are there multiple times a year with friends and family. It is our "happy place!"

  • Staff was super friendly, helpful, and inclusive. The trail was beautiful with lots of lookout points and seats. And it was all very wheelchair friendly. I can't wait to come back.

  • What a wonderful experience!! I'm in a wheelchair and I'll have to tell you the experience was fabulous. As I rolled on the boardwalk up the mountain (to me it's a mountain) it was like I was "there" and not viewing it from a distance wishing I could walk. The Manager is a wonderful person and told me all about this place - everything is accounted for. Yes, there's some difficulty, but hey - we're in the mountains! The further I got up the boardwalk, the more peaceful and beautiful it became. Thanks for allowing me to visit, always will remember.
